Binary geothermal power plant in Canakkale up and running

It has been now about 6 months since the 7 MW ORC geothermal power plant in Canakkale, Turkey, went online. The project is considered a success. Verkís was a major sub-contractor of Atlas Copco Energas for the project.

The brine gathering is the first of its kind and has been designed with an unusual high design pressure to respond to the design challenges caused by the high gas content in the brine. Verkís contributed to the design of the brine gathering system by defining the concept design, conducting thermal- and structural stress analysis of ORC piping and carrying detail design of the piping system, in collaboration with Atlas Copco Energas.

Verkís also designed sections of the electrical- and control systems and conducted design review of Contractor's drawings as well as site inspections to FAT tests. Last but not least has Verkís supervised the testing and commissioning of the generator protection- and synchronisation systems and connection to the adjacent power grid.
