Verkís main consultant for refurbishment of Mjólkarvirkjun in Iceland

Unit 1 in Mjólká power station was back in operation on November 1st 2016 after a major overhaul of the mechanical and control equipment.

The new turbine can now produce 2,8 MW or 0,4 MW more than the previous one and has an installed power of 3,2 MW that will hopefully be used in the coming years when the pipe conveying water from the intake ponds will be replaced by a new fiberglass pipeline with lower resistance coefficient than the current steel pipe.

Verkís was the consultant for the electro-mechanical refurbishment of Mjólkárvirkjun I and in charge of the design the layout, preparation of the technical specification for the equipment and design review.
