Mechanical systems

The Mechanical systems department is one of three departments of the Hydropower and transmission division.

 The department provides consulting mechanical engineering services, with the main field of activity in hydropower. The services offered applies to all project stages, from feasibility study, preliminary design, tender design, final design to making of shop drawings, project management and site supervision.

 The department offers consulting in the selection of hydropower turbines, auxiliary systems, penstocks and gate equipment. Additionally, the department offers consulting and service of piping and ventilation systems, selection of backup power systems, cranes and design of various steel structures.

When it comes to the construction phase, the department´s personnel is also experienced in equipment erection, testing, and site supervision.   

 In addition to the hydropower projects, the department also provides consulting in various other areas e.g.: 

• steel structures in general
• sewage pumping stations
• artwork steel constructions
• pumping stations
• high voltage steel structures
• backup power systems
• cooling systems
• snow melting systems

 The department´s specialists have a wide field of knowledge and experience and work in close cooperation with other departments and divisions at Verkís.
