Extensive electrical engineering service was provided by the Verkís firm Rafteikning in Actavís‘ new plant located Hafnarfjörður, along with a new pilot scale facility, a warehouse, an office and laboratory building and changes in the production area. Rafteikning participated in the first phase that started in 1997 and the project has been ongoing since.
The firm provided design criteria for all electrical systems and completed detail design followed by the tender documents and contracting assistance. The firm designed the building management system (BMS) and the Environmental monitoring system (EMS), programmed and installed all related software and control equipment, and provided site supervision and commissioning tests during the installation phases.
DESCRIPTION
Actavís' new pharmaceutical factory produces various types of drugs. The floor area of the plant is approx. 5,000 m2, the power intake is 2,500 A and the total electrical cables installed are around 100 km.
The main electrical systems are: Power distribution, lighting and lighting distribution, centralized emergency lighting system, fire - and intrusion alarm systems, structured telecommunication cabling, telephone exchange system, HVAC control and SCADA system, process control and other systems special for pharmaceutical environment.
