29/10/2018 : Mannvit-Verkís signs Tulu Moye Contract


M-V, a company jointly owned by Mannvit and Verkís for cooperation on international projects, has recently signed a consulting agreement with Tulu Moye Geothermal (TMGO) for Owner's Engineer services concerning the development of a geothermal power plant in Tulu Moye, Ethiopia.


14/8/2018 : Hydro opens a new aluminium smelter in Karmøy, Norway

The project, Karmøy Technology Pilot, is supervised by the Norwegian company Hydro and involves the construction of a new aluminium smelter which is the most environmentally friendly in the world. Less energy is needed for production than in any other plant. HRV, owned by Verkís and Mannvits, was a participant in the project from the beginning.


14/8/2018 : Dariali


The construction of the Dariali Hydroelectric Power Plant in the river Tergi, Georgia which was started in 2011, is completed and the power plant has been initiated. Verkís is the principal designer of the project in close cooperation with Landsvirkjun Power and companies in Georgia.

Yesterday, the 18th of July, the new visitor center HAKIÐ in Þingvellir national park was opened with a ceremony. Verkís involvement in the project is building management and project supervision.

Today marks the start-up and cornerstone placement ceremony for Landsvirkjun newest hydropower station, Búrfell II. The project involves the expansion of the Búrfell Power Plant in southern Iceland.

22/4/2018 : Theistareykir geothermal power plant fully operational


The second turbine unit at the Theistareykir geothermal power plant has now been commissioned and the plant is now fully operational. The installed power at the Theistareykir plant is 90 MW, introduced in two 45 MW stages.

The Iceland Geothermal Conference (IGC 2018) will be holding the 4th edition of the event at the Harpa Conference Centre in Reykjavík, between the 24th and 27th of April 2018.

29/1/2018 : Facade Lighting for historic building in Reykjavik

Verkís coordinated  the façade renovation works for the building located in Laugavegur 13, at the hearth of Reykjavík. The building managers also commissioned  Verkís lighting team to illuminate the building.

A company with future plans for construction in Hlíðarfjall was founded in Akureyri in October, 2017. The company was named Hlíðarhryggur ehf. and is made up of the following companies: Verkís, Sannir landvættir, Íslensk verðbréf, Yrki Architects, Village of Akureyri and the investment trust Verðandi.
