29/6/2022 : Verkís to explore direct geothermal utilisation in Djibouti

Verkís has recently been awarded a grant from the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs‘ Sustainable Development Goals Partnership Fund to explore opportunities for direct geothermal utilisation in Djibouti. Research in the last few decades has shown that there are opportunities for developing geothermal energy in Djibouti, yet greater geothermal utilisation has not been achieved.

20/6/2022 : Verkís wins the Icelandic lighting award

Íslensku lýsingarverðlaunin 2022

Óðinstorg in downtown Reykjavík has won the Icelandic lighting award, for exterior lighting. The project will represent Iceland in the 2022 Nordic Lighting Prize, held in Sweden this fall.

Þorbergur Hydro2022

The HYDRO 2022 conference was held in Strasbourg, France 25 to 27 April. Verkís representative to the conference was Þorbergur Steinn Leifsson, civil engineer in Department of Energy and Industry. Verkís also participated in a joint stand of Icelandic companies.

Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation; Jón Atli Benediktsson, Rector of the University of Iceland; and Egill Viðarsson, Ivon Stefán Cilia and Hrafnhildur Ólafsdóttir representing a consulting team from Verkís, TBL architects and John Cooper Architecture, signed a contract earlier this month for the comprehensive design of a new building to house the University of Iceland's School of Health Sciences.
