Verkís signs a declaration on climate change

  • Höfði

Verkís is among the Icelandic companies that signed a declaration on climate change at Höfði in Reykjavík.

The 21st  UN climate conference will take place in Paris (COP21) in early December this year with approval of the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC) aiming to curb global warming and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Iceland, together with the European Union and others, have committed to a reduction of emissions by 40%.

Verkís has committed to setting goals for the end of June 2016 to:

  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
  • Reduce waste, including minimizing unrecyclable goods and packaging, as well as aiming at recycling and reusing as much as possible
  • Measure the results and provide periodic information on the status of the above factors.

Verkís already has ISO 14001 certification and will work to achieve the above objectives with integrity.

More information on the declaration can be found on the website of Festa - Icelandic Center for Corporate Social Responsibility.
