Project overview:
Egilsstadir airport is one of four international airports in Iceland. The airport is a single runway, which is 2.000 x 60m and one terminal building with a service centre. Its importance lies in the flight between Europe and Iceland, the United States and Iceland and flights over Iceland. The Airport was originally built in 1963 - 1968 and renovated and expanded in 1987 - 1999. The airport serves the Eastern part of Iceland. Verkís was the main consultant and designer for the renovations.

Verkís performed consulting services for geotechnical investigations, detailed design of runway, service systems and river diversion, landfill design, preparation of specifications, contractor negotiations, supervision of construction andcost control.
