safety design
At Verkís, we place great stress on a holistic approach to safety issues. Demands are requirements are analysed in accordance with prevailing circumstances, regular operations, and special projects.
There is assessment of the preventive measures that should be taken, and if appropriate, there is continuous monitoring of the status of these matters, with the aim of ensuring that systems and equipment function properly and are upgraded according to the latest requirements and technological developments.
Risk analysis and risk assessment are performed for important aspects of design and operations in consultation with the other designers involved in a project. A survey is done of access to the area in question in order to identify security issues. Traffic and other structures in the area around the site are investigated (processual analysis) as well as the security concerns for important spaces. Analyses of these matters might already exist to some degree. The security area around the work area is delineated according to predefined degrees of security, and the area divided into risk areas categorized by degree of risk.
After security technology design has been completed, decisions are taken on the prevention and security systems required, or the equipment needed for the building/operations involved in accordance with the nature and scope of these activities. Existing systems and equipment, which have been put in place pursuant to laws, standards, or regulations, are incorporated into the design at this stage. Security and cost-efficiency aspects are taken into account in the design of all equipment and systems. Decisions have to be made on connecting security systems to other monitoring and supervision systems in the area, such as building-management systems, call systems, etc. Once security systems/solutions have been designed in accordance with the objectives defined above, the procurement process begins, and items are chosen according to price, cost-efficiency of operation, and operational reliability.
