HIGH-VOLTAGE LINES AND CABLEs
Verkís services cover all aspects of cable-laying, including high-voltage lines and peripheral equipment, excavation and surveying.
Cable has been laid for all voltage levels used in Iceland, from extra-low voltage up to 220 kV. The company has also taken part in an expert group appointed by Landsnet in 2014 to study the possibilities of greater use of underground cables in the company‘s 132 kV and 220 kV grids.
Company personnel have worked on numerous assignments in the field of underground-cable laying, and the company is a leader among Icelandic engineering firms in the design and planning of submarine cable routes. Verkís' subsidiary in Poland, Verkis Polsk, specialises in service for high-voltage overhead lines. The company has done numerous jobs for transmission companies in Poland that have involved the design, preliminary work for, and supervision of the building of overhead lines. Verkís' work on high-voltage overhead lines in Iceland has concerned preliminary studies and project design for high-voltage lines for Icelandic power companies. This service has included studies for transmission line routes, transmission capacity, transmission towers, structural engineering, earth electrode systems, etc.
