Cost estimates

A cost estimate is an important part of project preparation and decision-making.

The company’s aim with a good and well-made cost estimate is always to achieve the required results with minimal costs, that is, the minimisation of total costs, whether it is an initial plan or a financing plan.

Preparation and knowledge

The reliability of the cost estimate depends a lot on how the project is prepared and the knowledge that Verkís has about similar projects.

The company builds on its extensive experience in the preparation of cost estimates, and the methodology is similar to the well-known methodology of AACE International for the preparation of cost estimates. The company has developed and uses its own software for preparing estimates. That software offers very detailed and flexible reporting for the buyer.

How detailed the cost estimate is depends on how much information about the project is available when the estimate is made. The less information there is, the more uncertainty there is in the cost estimate, but as the project progresses, the more accurate the estimate can be.

A good cost estimate is a prerequisite for keeping track of actual costs and making sure that schedules are met.

The reliability of the cost estimate depends on how the project is prepared and the knowledge that Verkís has about similar projects.
