Sea bath in Húsavík

All Engineering design work and consultancy during the contract period.

The project Sea bath in Húsavík started in 2016. Since then, a 600m² service building and an outdoor area of about 500m² have been built. The main building is mostly buried with the aim of incorporating it into the landscape.

Water in the bathing pools are from three boreholes nearby, some of which have saltwater. The borehole water will be mixed on site. Temperature-controlled water flows into the pools in two to three places as appropriate. The reference temperature of the pool water will be about 38 ° -39 ° C.

It is not expected that the bath water will be cleaned with special operations but the flow into the pool will be so great that the water renewed regularly which leads to that the health of the water is within required health limits. The total volume of the water flow is about 35 l / s where the water flows between the pool, over their brim and from there into the natural channel into the sea.

It is the company Sjóböð ehf. who open the sea baths under the brand name GeoSea.
