Short Course on geothermal project management

Verkís has conducted various short courses on Geothermal Project Management organized by United Nation University Geothermal Training Programme (UNU-GTP).

And financed by the Icelandic International Development Agency (ICEIDA) and the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) Geothermal Exploration Project in East Africa.

The capacity building course has been prepared by Verkís experts in collaboration with Mr. Helgi Þór Ingason from the University of Reykjavík and covers the basics of management for geothermal projects. The objective of the course is to prepare participant in becoming competent project managers in geothermal utilization by introducing methodological approaches to project management in context of geothermal projects.
The participants learn about general aspects of project management, specific aspects of management of geothermal projects, key concepts of IPMA – ICB competence baseline, risk, HSE, scope, change, cost, time, procurement, contracts, quality, negotiation, project management systems, case examples and more. The participants are also offered the opportunity to undertake the IPMA D-level certification examination.
Verkís geothermal experts have held the 2 week short course in:
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with participants from the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEP), Geological Survey Of Ethiopia (GSE) and Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy
Nakuru, Kenya with participants from the Geothermal Development Company (GDC);
Djibouti with participants from the Djiboutian Development Office for Geothermal Energy (ODDEG), the Ministry of Energy, Water and Natural Resources (MERN) and the Djibouti Center for Research Studies (CERD).
